Barcelona has decided to put a price tag on Raphinha as they try to offload the Brazilian, according to information from FootballTransfers.
The club is eager to cash in on the 26-year-old, who hasn't made the expected impact since his €58 million transfer from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.
In previous transfer windows, the financially struggling Barcelona had been open to offers, hoping to use any potential transfer fee to improve their financial situation. However, nothing concrete materialized. In January 2023, the club reportedly set a €100 million price tag on Raphinha, deterring interest from Arsenal and Newcastle.
Now, there's new information that Barcelona has adjusted their asking price and is now seeking €70 million. While the club would prefer to finalize a deal in the January transfer window, they acknowledge that a move in the summer is more likely.
A potential complication is that Raphinha, at this moment, has expressed no desire to leave the club.
Potential destinations
Recent reports from Spain suggest that Newcastle, Saudi clubs, and Chelsea are in the running for Raphinha. In 2022, Chelsea had reached an agreement for Raphinha, but he chose to join Barcelona instead.
Manchester United is on the lookout for a winger, but it seems unlikely that Raphinha will move to Old Trafford at this point. The sale of players like Antony or Jadon Sancho would likely be necessary to finance a deal. Moreover, Raphinha's interest in joining Manchester United appears doubtful given the current state of the club.
On the other hand, Arsenal emerges as a sensible potential destination. Similar to Chelsea, the Gunners had shown interest in signing Raphinha during his time at Leeds. Arsenal's sporting director Edu also shares a close friendship with Barcelona's new counterpart Deco.
The north London team actively seeks a right winger and already has several of Raphinha's international teammates, including Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Magalhaes, in their squad.
